Met up with Socrates for dinner and another show at Second City, where his sister is taking improv/acting classes. Mother Socrates was also there ... being the supportive mother by setting up the tripod and camcorder for Sister Socrates. MS reminds me of my own mother: trim, efficient, dedicated to family with that specifically Japanese mothering that's difficult to explain but easy to recognize.
The show was a lot of fun. SS is in an advanced class, and performed material written by the advanced writing class. I think my favorite person was the short swarthy guy, but maybe that's because he scooted across the stage and eaped at the audience. That, and the Barack Obama parody rap that Sister Socrates (curly locks imprisoned under a wig, and dressed up in a suit) busted out with in a majorly funny way. Hmmm ... and the "Didn't even give the head nod!?!?!" skit. But maybe that's because I have a quite rational hatred of rude drivers who don't acknowledge my own generous civility.
