SLC Day 2

Up for a kiddie hike. Bean2 was ready and dressed in the car, while Bean1 was crying that he wanted to wear the blue pants. Yes, the ones that he'd outgrown, and that bean2 was actually wearing at the time. Such are the trials of youth. Bork eventually managed to wrangle the little stinker into some pants and into his car seat, and we all were off to Cottonwood Canyon. However, having gotten a late start, we missed Cheryl and the group. So, we muddled around the entrance to the canyon for a bit, walked up a bit from the parking lot, before ascertaining that indeed, we'd need to drive up a bit more before hikable terrain was obtainable.

Ended up driving up to the next parking lot, which had a nice trainhead to a little lake, and fortuitously got a parking space of someone just leaving. Genie and I lagged a bit, as the train was a bit steep, and the boys of the family were off ... arguing about who got to be first. Bork tried to settle it by having Bean1 lead on the way up, and Bean2 lead on the way down. When the going got really steep, Genie and I stopped to take a rest while the boys foraged on for more adventure.

For dinner, we were all splitting ways. Dad was taking the Beans to McDonalds ... a favorite treat. Bork and Genie were going out for some couple time. And JLITh and I were staying home for Korean BBQ with Scout. The original plan was to get the Havasupai-ers out to dinner, but Portenia couldn't make it, and JLITH wanted to cook, and who was I to gainsay her? Kalbi, chapchae, veggies, and chocolate dipped stawberries. Mmm Mmm good!
