Precepted T today, because TSO called in sick due to a pulled gluteus maximus (yes, that means butt) muscle.
It should have been an easy day. Our patient was supposed to transfer out in the morning, and we were going to get a cardiac admit in the afternoon. Little did we know that our morning patient wasn't going to get transferred until the late afternoon, and that her mother was crazy. At least that is what I would call a woman who wanted to breastfeed her 9 year old daughter in order to give her maternal antibodies ... and this woman was 48, if a day! Let's just say that we were mutually decided on not liking the other. Good thing that T is almost ready to go on her own, and did most of the care.
Our cardiac kid arrived around 1400. Sicker than our docs had anticipated. The charge nurse ended up helping T transfer our am patient, while I focused on the admit. Crazy. By the time we'd given report on both of them, it was past 2000, and we put off T's eval until tomorrow (the first time I've ever done this!), when we would have a calmer day.
