Phase III

E has completed Phase II on nights, and came back to days to complete Phase III on days before coming on shift. I really like precepting during Phase III ... it's when all the hard work of teaching becomes most apparent. Now that E's mastered all the basics of routine care, we can talk more about physiology, disease process, treatment and management. Today we had a trauma kid with an ICP. Good review of increased intracranial pressure, Monroe-Kellie doctrine, ventriculostomy monitoring and drainage, treatment modalities, how to recognize signs and symptoms of Cushing's Triad, and what to do for impending herniation.

Didn't go to Lindy Groove tonight. Right ankle's feeling a little tender and bruised after I hit it against a dumbell. However, wore a brace today and my new, expensive, ugly shoes, and didn't have any trouble at work.
