Barbara Morrison sings the blues

Up to Lindy Groove for the 6th anniversary party. It's hard to believe that it's been six years since Sir Dancealot opened Lindy Groove, and now it's one of the most successful dance venues around. The whole night was a blur of fabulousness. Random memories:

Getting a copy of Doug Silton's Advanced Lindy Hop Connections for free because I was in the first fifty to buy my ticket on-line. I once tried to refer White Boy to take lessons with Doug, but Doug was really bad on the follow-up. However, Doug is an excellent teacher ... had had tons of dance experience, and has worked through theory and how to teach it. He's one of my favorite dance teachers, although he rarely teaches at Lindy Groove anymore.

Hanging out with LitheOne and Philly at the stage door when the dj'd music was too fast.

Barbara Morrison coming down off the stage and being celebrated with a jam circle. Joshing had to step in and bring her back to the stage so that the band could finish off the song.

Fabulous dances with Evincerator, His Vickness, Mr. Small and Screaming Matt.

Getting the Live at the 9:20 Special cd, and Barbara autographing it for me. She's such an electric performer, and very sparkly in person as well. Sort of like a really good rootbeer float ... pure enjoyment. If you're interested in seeing her perform, she'll playing in LACMA's summer jazz series on Friday, August 31 at 6pm. I'm planning on going before heading up to Paseo Colorado.

Leaving the building and feeling extremely salty.
