Arrowhead 2006 ~ Day 1

In order of appearance at the house: Me, Ballerina, The Dot, Wonder Woman, Friendliest Girl in the World (FGITW), White Boy, Gadget Boy, Mssr. Artiste, Little Red Haired Girl (LRHG), SEE, Danny, T, Drummer Boy, Laughtear, Precious, Superman, Music Man, Edge Dancer and Saint. Nineteen people determined to have a fantastic time.

First of all, the house was amazing. Three levels, each with a deck. A screening room that was set up with Dance Dance Revolution (most important) and Halo. Pool table. Indoor jacuzzi. Sauna. Not that everything was perfect. But the ants on the rim of the hottub were quickly killed, and the Phantom Plumber left a note on how to get the fickle downstairs toilet to work.

After the first lookthrough and assignment of beds, LRHG and Mssr Artiste came into town with me to do the grocery shopping. Shopping helpers get benefits too ... ice cream, soda, cereal and cough drop choices ... besides getting in my eternal good graces.

Back at the house, curry cooking started. Everyone helped pitched in to make short work of it, and Ballerina entertained me the entire time it was reducing. In the meantime, the first games of Catan were started.


SEE, Danny and T arrived just before dinner, and Drummer Boy and Laughtear arrived just at the tail end. After the dishes were cleared, the Halo players left, and we had some real fun around the table. Stories of ratemypoo.com, LRHG's House of Streaming Poo tale, Drummer Boy's vision of heaven (swimming in pools of spicy shrimp taco filling naked ... sounds painful to me), etc etc.

On to Speed Scrabble. Love this game. White Boy later found some indepth info at wikipedia. Sad that more people know about Q words that don't require a U. That was my secret weapon. That being said, Wonder Woman has instituted a new rule that implies a QU combo with each Q. Will read more (just skimmed it, afterall), and find rationale for losing that rule. Two favorite words were Zoinks and Gnome, However, I did get Wary coming off of Weary.


Also did some teaching of Catan to Drummer Boy and Danny. Always interested in spreading the love of C&K (esp with the special rules), even if the games seem to take an eteeeeeeernityyyyyyy.

Precious and Superman arrived sometime in the evening. Back from an adventurous trip to Turkey, I'm so jealous.

More of us congregated in the screening room to play DDR. SEE vs Gadget Boy. SEE vs T. Me vs Laughtear. Drummer Boy vs Danny, Wonder Woman vs Mssr Artiste. The best was when Drummer Boy accidentally hooked into the speed version ... hows that for some intricate rhythms! And, apparently you can play with your feet or your hands.


At around 0200, Music Man, Edge Dancer and Saint finally arrived. And all hands were in for going to bed.
