Went down to Huntington Beach for Prospeaker and Lulu's Mosaic Wall Party II. Met these two on the trip to China. Married, retired, no children, vibrant, world travelers. They're generous, social and lots of fun. And they've both gotten really fit lately! They looked and felt fantastic.
The Mosaic Wall is Prospeaker's baby. He started with a tile mermaid and various fish along the back wall that lines their pool. Now, two semesters of ceramics classes later, he's almost got the whole wall covered ... sea monsters, turtles, shells, treasure chest complete with strings of pearls, a tiffany-esque stained glass night light and kelp beds. So much fun, and a great creative outlet.
Reconnected with a few of the other China travellers. Mostly retired folk who have the means to take at least one large trip a year. I generally don't tend to have much exposure with retirees, so it was refreshing to have a chat and see what my life may look like in thirty-some years.
Stayed in tonight. Read through Stigma. Thankfully, it was okay. Not nearly bad as I feared after reading the back cover. A bit formulaic, especially the ending, and some of the twists. But not a bad read for an evening. I'm interested in seeing what Hawley will be able to reveal about his writing process.
